Grenville Motors, Troon (Updated 18th May 2008)

Established in 1947, Grenville was to become the largest independent provider of stage carriage services in Cornwall following a series of takeovers. Early acquisitions included Berryman's of Leedstown, Godolphin Motors and Pendennis Motors, the latter providing Grenville with a presence in Falmouth. This was later exploited when Grenville acquired four other companies in the area, bringing premises in Penryn and exclusive operation of a busy circular service between Penryn and Falmouth. The last acquisition was Harvey's of Mousehole, which remained a separate entity until Grenville itself sold out to the newly privatised Western National in 1988. Western National continued to use the Grenville name on a handful of coaches allocated to Camborne depot well into the 1990s.
